The house of Kenzo opened in 1970, in a gallery called Gallerie Vivienne which is in Paris.
The founder and creator is Kenzo Takada who was Japanese, although this guy retired in 1999 after a 30 yr career! ...These days Antonio Marras is in charge and is constantly developing The House Of Kenzo.
Originally having Kenzo Takada as the designer and this guy being Japanese, although ending up being Paris based, it seems to keep this Japanese essence in the clothing, the Japanese seem to be inspired by England. I feel this translates well in the clothing, i think especially in the menswear there is a strong influence in the mod subculture. They will have smart blazers, doc martins, those 60's mods hats and just a clean but rebellious appearance.
Looking at all the collections, the womenswear doesn't have as much as a strong influence as the menswear, and it looks quite different but still fits together well ,i guess it reminds me of Pete Doherty and Kate Mosses relationship. All the dresses seem to have floral prints on them which i guess could be quite mod inspired, but it feels a lot more modern and a bit more free flowing because the fabrics seem to be very light in the womenswear. It has a really bright but not blinding look.

Pierre cardin
Pierre cardin is brilliantly artistic at so many things, and all the clothes he designes are just so exciting it makes me bounce around! I would wear these outfits any-day! They really grab meee! Also so many of his designs are timeless, thats a really great thing. :)

There is some stunning pieces by KENZO in the latest womens S/S 2011 Collection. I love how floaty but interesting structured it seems to be. I am also really loving the colours and the fresh feel it seems to have.

moving on to men i really adore this a/w 2011 collection, it really sticks to my mind, its got quite a feminine feel and guys being in touch with there feminine side really makes me happy, i adore it.
S/S 2011 collection has a few nice pieces, i really like the stripey sailor look

MODS
So my group went to visit a few places in Carnaby street, one of them was called 'THE FACE' and it has been there since the late seventies, the man who works there was lovely and very passionate and he had lots to tell us. Apparently the shop has been there since the late 70's, alot of mods go there and hang out on saturdays. Apparently Amy Winehouse used to sit on his floor there. The guy working in this shop also makes clothing and sells them there.
Another place we went to was just down from there, i can't reember the name now, oh yes i can it was Sherry's! But this woman was working in there and she was very helpful and her shop has been there around for the same amount of time as the other one, there was a picture of her back when she was younger on the wall, and there was alot of leaflets from new mod events going on. Also she let us know that a young guy works there, so we waited in her shop for him to get back, and then we asked him about the mod scene from our generation and he was very, very helpful and he really pulled the look off well.
We plan to go back and interveiw these people. If there is something i have learnt about the mod scene, it is how welcoming and friendly it seems to be. Also how underground it's managed to keep itself.

Metal Heads
OOh gosh, Yes ! I have been a metal head haha! oooh all that head banging and bashing about is like a really original workout haha!..Alot of metal heads i recall looking really ugly with sweat dripping all over them 24/7 , i can assure you i didn't allow myself to sweat, i was more hardcore than any of them!

MODS
Ohh Mods, i find them boring. So uninteresting and bland riding there scooters around like an accessory... Yet sometimes some of them do pull it off quite well, but i think it can be a hard look to pull off, i mean if you don't have the face and the body of a model and no sense of your own style, then you could just end up looking a bit crap.!
so you could end up looking really cool...
or errrm bland and boring! eurrghh!

Mods apparently were around in the late 1950's to early 60's . But I'd still say there is a Mod scene around, it may take a bit more digging up than Punk, but it is still popular with many people and there is still something there. Also elements of the clothing have been taken and styled in different ways through fashion. I mean lots of people love to wear braces and they are a very popular item to embellish yourself with.
PUNK
Well I really love the punk scene, I love the music, the attitude, the outfits.It is a way of life. I would say it is a bit more than a sub-culture.
Many people will refer to Punks and make them seem like they only existed during 1977 to the early 80's. This is obviously not true, there are still Punks now and many more to come!
